A major European Industrials company with a presence in 40+ countries wanted to evaluate potential investment sites in the Former Soviet Union (FSU) but lacked knowledge and operating expertise in the region.
The participant, the EVP of Strategy, had a number of questions regarding potential investments:
- Which countries represent the most favorable business environment for us?
- What are the challenges we will face doing business in the region? How can I evaluate the threats and difficulties such as corruption, regulatory changes, government relations, and hiring might pose?
- What joint venture models have been successful for other companies in the region? What best practices can I identify and adapt to my unique circumstances?
- Who are my potential joint venture partners?
